This handy how-to can not only save you a $75 service call but it could also prevent a fire hazard.
It took 20 minutes to fix a dryer that was not drying clothes all the way. No, it wasn't the heating element or the thermostat control. It was lint and dryer sheets! Go figure! Lint and dryer sheets had built up in the dryer vent pipe. So here's how I solved it:
1. checked the outside vent with the dryer running to see if the air was flowing
2. no air was flowing so I found that lint was blocking the edge of the vent
3. remove the lint and check for airflow again. I found airflow to still be less than optimal
4. checked the other areas in the vent line that had long horizontal sections
5. removed the lint from the horizontal areas.
6. airflow was great...all done.
Dryer dries like new!
